Gliding is a strange sport, at times unbelievably enjoyable and very rewarding. This experience offers you the chance to experience the amazing thrills, and breathtaking scenery of powerless flight.
On your first flight you will be taken up in one of the club's two seater training gliders with an experienced qualified instructor.
A tow plane will take the glider to a suitable height upon which the glider separates from the tow plane.
You then set out to learn the basics of gliding.
Weather permitting your instructor will show you how to find 'thermals', which are rising currents of warm air which gliders use to gain height.
Your flight should last around 15-30 minutes depending on the weather conditions, after which you will be given a certificate.
You also receive 2 months membership of our club enabling you to have further flights or lessons at normal member rates. Should you wish to carry on learning to fly, you will then be able to purchase a year's membership at the club, giving you access to all the club's facilities.

Medical requirements are the same as for driving on the road, and are essentially a self declaration that you are fit to fly.
